“I think they realized it was Remembrance Day,” she continued, referring to the U.K.’s Nov. 11 holiday honoring members of the armed forces who have died in service. “And they didn’t want to be seen at a party, even though it’s already up, you know, and then taken down. And then I think they realized, like, ‘Oh, this was so silly.’”
And while Meghan and Harry—who share kids Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 2—had been at a Baby2Baby gala before heading to Kris’ party, Kim speculated that the birthday gathering, in contrast, was too celebratory.
"That was fine,” she said of the fundraiser, “but maybe not partying and dancing on the dance floor or whatever."
“So, we took them down,” Kim said, “to respect Remembrance Day.”
Overall, though, the SKIMS founder regrets that the whole situation—which she and her family have now dubbed “Photogate”—was blown out of proportion.
“I hated how that was received for everyone,” she added. “It was just made into something that was so crazy and ridiculous that just didn't have to be.”
E! News has reached out to Meghan and Harry's rep for comment.
But while the photo situation caused some drama, it should come as no surprise that Meghan and Harry were among the A-list attendees: The couple have become good friends with the Kardashians since they moved to California in 2020.
In fact, Meghan sent Khloe and Kris gifts from her As Ever brand last summer, including a wooden box with three bottles of the brand’s Napa Valley Rosé.
Alongside the sweet gift, Kris expressed her gratitude, writing, “Thank you @meghan @aseverofficial.”
