Four months before Simone revealed she was leaving WWE, Dwayne—who shares Simone with ex Dany Garcia—got emotional while praising his daughter for continuing on the family legacy.
“I'm so proud of her,” he told MTV UK in September, before starting to cry. “I'm so proud becuase it’s what I did, and I loved what I did, love wrestling. I grew up in wrestling. She was born into it, too, just like I was. And she said, ‘Hey, I want to do what you do.’”

“I get emotional because she's like, ‘I want to do what you do but I want to carve my own path,’” he continued, emphasizing that she didn’t want him to make any calls to help jumpstart her career. “And that's a difference that was a big deal that I heard that.”
Dwayne concluded, “It gave me a profound sense of pride. I helped, with her mom, raise an amazing human being.”
