“My kids love KPop Demon Hunters, so I was over there just jamming,” she recalled. “I think he caught me jamming and that’s when we started talking about it. I don’t even think I heard what he was saying. I was probably just laughing.”
While Teyana couldn’t remember specific details about the interaction, fans on social media immediately recognized Leonardo, 51, mentioned the word “K-Pop” while laughing at his table. He also reenacted her reaction to the movie’s win, playfully waving his finger around before clapping.
However, the All’s Fair actor wasn’t just proud of Huntr/x’s demon slaying accolades. In fact, she cried tears of joy when she also received her first Globes trophy, winning Best Performance for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in One Battle After Another.
“Oh my God, I almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I would get this,” Teyana said during her heartfelt speech, voice breaking with emotion. “To my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine.”
She added, “We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space.”
And as the Straw alum continues to step into a new chapter of her acting career, she’s keeping the advice Leonardo gave to her close to her heart.
“Pacing myself and having fun with it,” she told E! News in December. “Don’t start going down no rabbit holes, just have fun with it and that’s exactly what I’m doing.”
