The director of National Intelligence in the US, Tulsi Gabbard, has said that the US intelligence community does not assess that Russia has the “capability” to conquer Ukraine or invade Europe as she accused “deep state warmongers” and a section of the media to derail the peace efforts being led by US President Donald Trump’s administration to end the nearly four year old war in Ukraine.
Gabbard made the remarks in a post on social media while responding to reports which alleged that the US intelligence community supports views of the European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) which claims that Russia aims to either invade or conquer Europe.
Gabbard accused “deep state warmongers and their propaganda media” of trying to derail the efforts being led by President Donald Trump to bring peace in Ukraine and Europe by spreading false narratives. She said claims made by the “warmongers” were being used to justify “pro-war policies”.
Deep State warmongers and their Propaganda Media are again trying to undermine President Trump’s efforts to bring peace to Ukraine—and indeed Europe—by falsely claiming that the ‘U.S. intelligence community’ agrees to and supports EU/NATO viewpoint that Russia’s aim is to…
In a post on X, Gabbard wrote, “Deep State warmongers and their Propaganda Media are again trying to undermine President Trump’s efforts to bring peace to Ukraine—and indeed Europe—by falsely claiming that the ‘US intelligence community’ agrees to and supports EU/NATO viewpoint that Russia’s aim is to invade/conquer Europe (in order to gin up support for their pro-war policies).”
The US intelligence chief further added, “The truth is that US intelligence assesses that Russia does not even have the capability to conquer and occupy Ukraine, what to speak of ‘invading and occupying’ Europe.”
Gabbard’s remarks come amid a Kremlin envoy stating that the US proposed plan to end the Ukraine war is pressing on “constructively” in Florida, while the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the plan was moving “quickly”.
Zelenskyy said that diplomatic efforts were moving forward quite quickly and “our team in Florida has been working with the American side.”
