India has often been under scrutiny on social media with several videos from the country showing a perceived lack of civic sense and public decency. However, a recent video of a foreign national highlighting the empathy displayed by hotel staff when she fell sick and was going through a breakdown is winning hearts.
In an Instagram video, the tourist can be seen teary-eyed while showing forks and spoons that a hotel staff member delivered to her room. Hailing the room service, the woman says, “I am in a hotel in India and I am crying over my forks and spoons because someone from room service came to deliver those to me and they are so freaking nice.”
“Like he delivered forks and spoons and said Have a good night,” she adds. The woman further said that she had been feeling unwell and that a hotel staff member gave her medicines. “The people in India are so nice,” she says in the video.
Sharing the video, an Instagram handle @indiaego wrote, “Late at night, when she suddenly fell unwell, she contacted room service for help. To her surprise, the staff didn’t just check on her condition—they also arranged basic medicine and made sure she was comfortable.”
The video has since gone viral, prompting a flurry of reactions hailing India’s hospitality. “The other side of my india respect those people who have humanity in this generation,” an Instagram user wrote. “That is in our DNA if someone is uncomfortable we help or leave them alone. TC and boost ur immunity by the way,” another user commented.
“I remember being totally sick in a hotel once and the staff was so kind to not only go and get me medicine but also make off kitchen hours porridge for me,” a third user reacted.
