The State government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted urea supply and supporting farmers throughout the Rabi season. At a review meeting on Tuesday, Agriculture Director Manazir Jeelani Samoon said the State has adequate urea stocks and that continuous supplies from companies have dispelled concerns about shortages. He stressed the need to educate farmers on the adverse effects of excessive urea use on soil health, crop productivity, and the environment, and instructed field-level Agriculture Officers to intensify awareness campaigns. Officials were directed to maintain a three-week buffer stock of urea in every district, prepare ten-day district-level supply plans based on crop requirements, and communicate these plans to manufacturers five days before distribution. The Integrated Fertiliser Management System (IFMS) must accurately reflect physical stock levels, and enforcement officers were directed to report daily actions and respond promptly to media reports on supply issues. Daily teleconferences with district agriculture and MARKFED officials were mandated to monitor operations and resolve issues proactively. Mr. Samoon said that the difficulties experienced during the Kharif season must not be repeated and called for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders. Officers were advised to address farmer concerns logically and transparently to convey the actual situation clearly. The review meeting was attended by Additional Director Vijayalakshmi, Joint Director Kripadas, Deputy Directors Rajan and Prem Shekhar, MARKFED General Manager Srinivasa Rao, Manager Nagaraju, DBT Officer Santosh, and other senior officials.
